This episode on algebra was so helpful! We just started Jacob’s algebra with my 14 year olds and am using Dr. Callahan’s suggested problem list, but was still trying to figure out how to best handle the lessons – how much to do verbally, how much to have my students do, so this was very helpful. Thank you so much!!!

I was so excited to hear this episode! We had just started that same lesson with my Form 3 student and I was anxious to see if I had implemented the theory correctly. I found that most of it was just as I had done (yay!) and found some areas for improvement. This has really helped me feel like I can teach math Mason-style.
I do have a question, though. When doing the three streams of math: Arithmetic, Algebra, and Geometry for my Form 3, do I just provide practice problems in arithmetic areas as needed? We have spent the last six years working on arithmetic (not CM) so once we have solidified the foundation, is it just review? If I understand correctly, consumer math doesn’t start until Form 4, so we still have two more years of arithmetic.
Thanks again for the wonderful work you all do to help us on this journey!
