Do you ever wonder how Charlotte Mason used Scouting in her schools? Have you ever wanted to try it with your own students?
Scouting Tests may help you in that regard. Based on an article from The Parent’s Review, this document shares some of the history of how troops were formed, badges were designed, and tassels were earned in the Parent’s Union Schools in 1920. In addition, this resource includes a list of all the tests that were required of the scouts to earn their tassels in areas like Geography, First Aid, and Nature Lore. But not only are these tests included, they have been updated to modern vernacular so that your students can also pursue the same education that Mason’s students had all those years ago. You’ll even find new categories listed with their own tests in order to expand your student’s horizons in many areas of study.
With this resource you can see how the Scouting program worked at Ambleside, have some direction in what elements to teach to your Scouts, and maybe even challenge them to reach the same standard that their historical counterparts reached over 100 years ago!
