The Unfolding Mystery by Edmund Clowney
Both an accessible introduction for those new to the Bible and a fascinating account for those who know it well, this book traces the path to Christ through Old Testament characters and events revealing panorama of the presence of Christ throughout the entire Old Testament. Christ is the key to the understanding of the Old Testament, as he himself claimed “All things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the psalms concerning me.” (Luke 24:44)

Seven Days That Divide the World: The Beginning According to Genesis and Science by John C. Lennox
A brief but thorough exploration of the primary interpretations of creation. Lennox discusses each of the current Christian viewpoints, including the positives and negatives of each view, and suggests that only a limited number are scientifically, theologically, and intellectually reasonable interpretations. In addition, he maintains throughout that Genesis teaches us far more about the God of Jesus Christ and about God’s intention for creation than it does about the age of the earth.

Full of neuroscience and body chemistry, it is nevertheless a page turner.

iGen: Why Today’s Super-Connected Kids Are Growing Up Less Rebellious, More Tolerant, Less Happy–and Completely Unprepared for Adulthood–and What That Means for the Rest of Us by Jean M. Twenge
There are a lot of opinions about the current generation of young people, many of them alarming. The author of this book, a social psychologist who studies generational trends, shares which of our conceptions are accurate and which are misconceptions. Twenge takes us on a tour of scientific data and personal interviews that helps us understand the mindset of this generation, both its strengths and weaknesses. This is an important book to help understand the challenges facing our children, as well as the peers they associate with.

A Sand County Almanac: And Sketches Here and There by Aldo Leopold
This classic book of nature lore is a delight to read. Mr. Leopold shares his seasonal observations of his local natural landscape in Wisconsin as well as notes from various travels. His sympathy with nature and intense interest in the world around him ignites the reader’s desire to conserve their natural landscape as well. The book closes with several essays calling us to preserve and protect the wildlife around us, both flora and fauna.
